The Northern Lights may be coming to a city near you.

For those of us who live in New York and the Tri-State area, this phenomenon may actually be visible this evening after midnight, January 9-10, according to EarthSky.org. They report that a powerful flare on the sun has created conditionsfavorable to auroras; a partial impact to the electromagnetic field that protects the Earth resulting in a geomagnetic storm.
New England will have a greater chance of experiencing the  Aurora Borealis tonight but I’m optimistic.
I’ve often dreamt 
of sitting on a snowy mountain top in Helsinki in awe of this rare spectacle, however tonight, I’ll just be looking up...from Nyack.
