NYACK PREDICTED TO EXPERIENCE A WARMER WINTER

Winter 2019-2010 may be warmer and wetter in Nyack.

New York should see warmer-than-average temperatures because for the first time in years there are neutral conditions in the Pacific. “Without either El Nino or La Nina conditions, short-term climate patterns like the Arctic Oscillation will drive winter weather and could result in large swings in temperature and precipitation,” said Mike Halpert, deputy director of NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center. Wetter than average conditions are also predicted in the Northeast. The southern creep of arctic air will ultimately determine if that precipitation is snow, sleet, or rain. Of course all predictions are just that, an educated guess. In reality, you need to wake up in the morning and see what Mother Nature has in store for you today!

January 22, 2016 saw Winter Storm Jonas dump a record 27 inches of snow on our lovely village of Nyack, let’s hope we don’t break that record.Image title
