Velo Rose In Nyack Celebrates Fifth Anniversary
Chef/owner, Anthony DeVanzo, created a superb four-course menu around four different wines.
Appetizer was a pan seared sea scallop on a potato pancake with a delicious Thai coconut broth topped with Wakame salad. This was served with an cold glass of Bouchaine's "Estate Chardonnay 2010" with hints of citrus.
Next was a salad of Boston lettuce with Gorgonzola cheese, toasted almonds lightly drizzled with strawberry-balsamic dressing. The salad course was accompanied by a light and very delectable Rose of Syrah from Rockin' H Vineyard 2012.
The main course was a Porcini dusted lamb chop with three cheese risotto and a Pinot Noir vinaigrette. A Bouchaine's Pinot Noir 2009 was the perfect pairing!
And last, but not least, was an outrageously delicious dessert: Peanut Butter Semifreddo smothered in chocolate fudge and sweet and salty caramel peanuts. The dessert wine that was served, a chilled Bouche D'Or Late Harvest Chardonnay 2010, also came from the Bouchaine Vineyard and was a perfect contrast to the flavorful peanut butter, fudge, peanut dessert concoction.
