Storm Cleanup in Nyack

Given the amount of damage from last weekend's freak snow storm, some of the people and companies who clean up and remove fallen trees and branches seem to be taking advantage of peoples' needs for their services.  I have a 45' maple in my yard in Central Nyack that sheared off two major branches and about half of the lower trunk from the weight of the snow.  I have had 2 estimates to just cut down the remainder of the tree, with me stacking the wood for future use. The 2 estimates I have are $250 and $500 - which is quite a disparity!  I have 3 more people coming today to give estimates . . . and I can't wait to see what they have to say!

It is bad enough that we have to see magnificent trees come down, but to have ruthless business people trying to gouge and take advantage of the situation just adds insult to injury.  Be very careful who you hire to do work and be sure to get at least 3 different quotes.
